Top Foods and Drinks That Stain Teeth

Wondering what caused your teeth to become discolored? You might not have to look much further than your diet! Many foods and drinks can leave teeth stained, and the more frequently you consume them, the more likely you are to suffer from tooth discolouration. Here are some of the most common food and drink causes of teeth staining:

  1. Coffee. A recent study found that people who drink at least one cup of coffee per day are more likely to undergo teeth whitening treatments or use teeth whitening products than those who do not. Coffee leaves behind pigments that stain the teeth and can also damage dental enamel due to its acidity. Drinking through a straw can help reduce the effects of drinking coffee.
  2. Tea. Like coffee, tea also contains tannins that can stain and discolour teeth. It doesn’t matter which type you drink either. Green teas can produce grayish colored stains, while black tea leaves behind yellow discolouration. Drinking through a straw and choosing high quality teas can minimise the impact.
  3.  Dark Coloured Fruits. Blackberries, blueberries and pomegranates can all leave behind stains on your teeth. Brushing soon after consuming these healthy fruits can lower the risk of staining.
  4. Red Wine. While red wine has been shown to decrease the risk of oral cavities, the tannins in the fermented beverage can contribute to staining. You can drink red wine through a straw or rinse your mouth or brush after consuming it to try and reduce the impact of that glass of your favorite vintage.

Reducing your intake of foods and drinks that cause teeth staining can help you have a whiter smile, but avoiding them completely can be hard. Using a teeth whitening kit from  TeethWhiteningKits2You can help you dramatically improve the appearance of your smile in as little as 2 weeks. Then, you can perform regular maintenance treatments or use one of our whitening pens to address stains that return due to your diet and other factors. Shocking New Study About Whitening Toothpastes Released

Many people who want to whiten their teeth decide to do so with whitening toothpastes. These products are advertised as being able to remove stains from the surface of the teeth that are caused by coffee, tea, wine and other substances. But do they work? A new study says that they may not.

The study in question was published in the November and December 2015 issue of the medical journal General Dentistry and was conducted by a team of six researchers. The scientists used 60 samples of human teeth and then stained them equally with black tea by dipping them 15 times. Then, the teeth were cleaned with one of three popular whitening toothpastes or with a regular toothpaste. The levels of staining were measured before and after brushing and the teeth were all photographed to compare their appearance.

After completing their work and examining the photographic and visual evidence, the team of researchers concluded that all of the toothpastes left teeth looking cleaner and brighter; however, there was no difference found in the level of staining between the teeth brushed with any of the whitening toothpastes and teeth brushed with conventional toothpastes. As a result, the researchers concluded that the whitening toothpastes were not any more effective at removing stains than conventional toothpaste.

So just what does this mean? Well, more study needs to be done to verify the findings of this study, but the research does suggest that whitening toothpastes may not be the best way to promote a whiter smile.

3 Ways That a White Smile Matters

Have you been putting off whitening your teeth because you think it’s just not that important? Many people tell themselves that whitening might be nice, but that it just shouldn’t be a priority. After all, how you look isn’t the most important thing, right?

While it’s true that real beauty comes from within, there are some important reasons to consider whitening your teeth sooner rather than later. Here are three ways that a white smile truly does matter:

A White Smile Can Help You With Your Career.

First impressions matter in any field. When you’re meeting a customer or interviewing for a promotion or a position with a new company, your appearance counts. Stained teeth can send a message that you’re not concerned about details or that you lack ambition, even if it’s far from the truth. A white smile is truly an asset when it comes to work and can help you sell more and move up the corporate ladder with greater ease.

A White Smile Can Boost Your Confidence.

Even if you don’t realise it, stained teeth can undermine your confidence. When you know your teeth are stained, you may be hesitant to smile or speak in front of people. Whitening can help you feel better about yourself and allow you to feel more at ease in social and professional situations.

A White Smile Can Help You Improve your Oral Health.

When your teeth are white, you’ll want to keep them that way, and that means that you’ll be more invested in brushing and flossing. Studies have found that people who whiten their teeth and keep up with maintenance often have healthier teeth and gums than those who do not.

These are just some of the benefits that come from whitening your teeth, and why you should consider investing in the appearance of your smile now. When you shop for teeth whitening kits at TeethWhiteningKits2You.co.uk, you’ll be amazed at how affordable teeth whitening products are. Our teeth whitening gel is competitively priced to fit your budget, yet it’s still fully EU approved and capable of brightening teeth by 11 shades in just 2 weeks! Explore the options available now and get ready to reap all of the benefits of having a whiter smile.

Why Teeth Whitening Sometimes Fails

With the effectiveness of teeth whitening kits on the market today, you’re surely meeting more people who have great stories to tell about how they removed stains at home. Still, occasionally, you’ll run into someone who says that teeth whitening gel didn’t work for them. Here are some of the reasons why:

  1. Lack of Attention to Detail. Teeth whitening gel works, but only if you use it as recommended. When people don’t follow the instructions included with their kits correctly, they often fail to see results.
  2. Incomplete Treatment. Teeth whitening kits are made to work over a set course of treatments during a specific time frame. Quitting treatment prematurely can lessen effectiveness.
  3. Poor Dental Hygiene. Individuals who do not brush and floss regularly or correctly may not get optimal whitening results. Plaque and tartar on the teeth can lessen the effectiveness of whitening gel. That’s why many experts recommend that even those with good dental hygiene prep their teeth with a pre-treatment to remove any residues that can interfere with the gel.
  4. Lifestyle Choices. Individuals who use tobacco or drink large amounts of coffee, tea or red wine may see whitening results fade quickly due to repeated exposure to substances that stain the dental enamel.
  5. Stains Whitening Can’t Easily Treat. Teeth whitening can address many different types of stains, but some types like staining due to genetic factors or prescription medications may not be treatable with any type of whitening products, including clinical interventions.
  6. Poor Quality Kit. Unfortunately, not all products work the way that they claim. That’s why it’s important to only purchase a teeth whitening kit that is backed by clinical evidence and sold by a reputable manufacturer.

Here at TeethWhiteningKits2You.co.uk, we only sell teeth whitening gel that is clinically proven to whiten teeth by up to 11 shades. We supply our teeth whitening gel products to dentists and smile clinics, so you can be completely confident that they’re of the absolute finest quality. Got Sensitive Teeth? Try These Ideas

When you use an EU-approved tooth whitening gel to address stains, the procedure is safe for the dental enamel; however, some people still develop sensitivity symptoms due to teeth whitening. You’re more at risk of experiencing teeth whitening sensitivity if you suffer from sensitivity at other times, such as when you drink something hot or breathe in through your mouth on a cold day.

Fortunately, there are some things that you can do to diminis2015 NEW Lighth teeth whitening sensitivity, including:

Follow the directions carefully. Make sure you use the teeth whitening gel only as frequently as directed and for the length of time specified.

Make whitening the last thing that you do every day. Giving your teeth a chance to recover after whitening by going to sleep after your treatment can diminish the risk of sensitivity. Brush your teeth prior to treatment and drink only water until morning.

Watch your acid intake. During your 2-week treatment period, try to limit how many acidic foods and drinks you enjoy. The acids in foods like tomato sauce, vinegar, citrus fruits and other foods can worsen sensitivity.

Use OTC pain relievers. Assuming your doctor approves, you can use acetaminophen or ibuprofen prior to your treatment to ease any discomfort.

Get some fluoride. In clinical studies, sodium fluoride found in dental rinses and toothpastes has been shown to diminish the risk of sensitivity reactions. Some dentists even recommend that those who already have tooth sensitivity use a fluoride rinse for a few weeks prior to whitening in order to decrease the chances of sensitivity occurring.

Use a soft brush. Switch to a soft toothbrush if you don’t ordinarily use one until you’re finished with your whitening treatment.

One of the most important things that you can do to decrease your risk of experiencing teeth whitening sensitivity is to only use a whitening gel that is approved by the EU and that is sold by a reputable retailer. TeethWhiteningKits2You.co.uk has a wide assortment of teeth whitening gel kits that meet EU standards, and we’re a trusted provider of teeth whitening supplies, not just for at-home use, but also in dentists’ offices. What Should I Eat While I’m Using a Teeth Whitening Kit?

When you purchase a teeth whitening kit, you want to make sure that you get the best results possible from the gel. After all, you don’t want the time and money that you invested in treatments to go to waste. At TeethWhiteningKits2You.co.uk, we often get questions from clients who want to know if they should eat or drink anything special while using their teeth whitening gel or if they should avoid eating or drinking anything in particular.

The answer is a little complicated.

A number of foods and drinks can contribute to tooth stains. These include drinks like coffee, tea, soda and red wine and dark fruits and spaghetti sauce. In general, reducing the amount of these foods and drinks in your diet or taking special precautions like rinsing your mouth out with water after enjoying them can help you to keep discolouration to a minimum.

In the past, dentists often recommended that patients follow a white diet while performing teeth whitening treatments at home. A white diet is simply one that is free of dark coloured foods like the ones mentioned earlier. The belief behind the recommendation is that keeping one’s diet free of foods and drinks that stain the teeth would make teeth whitening gel more effective.

A study published this year suggests that in the short-term during teeth whitening treatments, what you eat and drink doesn’t affect results. The study found no difference in whitening results between people who followed a white diet and those who did not. Based on this research, it seems that the whitening gel products used for at-home treatments are powerful enough to counteract any tiny amounts of staining that occur due to drinking a cup of coffee or eating a bowl of blackberries.

So the short answer to the question is that no, you don’t need to give up any foods or drinks while you’re using a teeth whitening kit to get its full benefits. Still, over the long-term, avoiding foods and drinks that can stain your teeth can help you maintain your new white smile for longer.

If you’re ready to get started with teeth whitening, we’re here to help. You can check out the full selection of kits and EU compliant safe gels at TeethWhiteningKits2You.co.uk.
